Commemorative Brick Campaign
Your brick makes our parks tick! All proceeds from the Commemorative Brick Campaign go directly into funding ongoing maintenance and upgrades of our local parks. You will take pride in seeing your personalized brick in place in the park, as well as improved landscaping, replacement of play equipment, and added amenities that were the direct result of your donation.
Community Clean Up
Avalon's natural beauty is unparalleled. In partnership with the Avalon Rotary Club, the department sponsors a monthly community clean up day to help keep our town clean. Meet at Avalon Kid's Park at 9 a.m. Please bring your own gloves. The City will provide trash bags and some tools.
2023 Scheduled Clean Up Days Coming Soon!
Contact the Community Services Department for more information.
Meals on Wheels
Thanks in large part to a dedicated volunteer base, and the support of our local restaurants, the Community Services Department oversees daily delivery of meals to a treasured part of community. Contact the Community Services Department to determine the eligibility standards for this program, or to sign up to be a volunteer.
Annual Christmas Toy Drive
In partnership with Southern California Edison, Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department and Island Express Helicopters, the Community Services Department coordinates collection and delivery of more than 1,000 toys to Island children every year. Donations are currently being accepted at City Hall. Feel free to drop off an unwrapped toy any time Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Toys will be distributed to Island families the week before Christmas.
Holiday Meal Delivery
Through generous donations from local businesses and community members, the City of Avalon is able to offer Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner to more than 200 families every year. To make a donation to the Holiday Meal Delivery program, or to volunteer to deliver meals, please contact the Community Services Department.
