Avalon Transit also offers Dial-a-Ride (DAR) and Paratransit Services.
DAR is a shared-ride system for City of Avalon residents and visitors who are 55 and over or any resident/visitor with a permanent or temporary disability that prevents driving or use of public transportation.
We organize pick-ups and drop-offs in a way that allows us to serve as many residents and visitors as possible. The vehicles can easily accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. Our friendly, trained drivers are there to get you safely on and off the vehicle.
You can ride anywhere within Avalon City limits. The driver will stop at the curb and help you enter and leave the vehicle. Door-to-Door service is available on request. Door-to-Door service is defined as riders that need extra assistance to the entrance to entrance or exit of their destination. Door-to-Door service is not for moving heavy items, groceries, luggage, etc.
Dial-a-Ride operates 365 days a year, 7 am to 7:30 pm.
